FAQ
What is Lume?
Lume is a floor lamp that transforms into a robot when you need. It provides adaptive lighting and can handle everyday chores while remaining a calm, sculptural object in your home.
Why a lamp?
A lamp fits naturally into any room and lets the robotics stay hidden in plain sight. And since home robots aren’t running constantly like factory machines, Lume is designed to be both useful and beautiful during that time.
What can Lume do today?
Today, Lume can handle soft-material chores like making the bed, folding laundry, and resetting pillows. Over time, it will gain new capabilities through software updates without hardware upgrades required.
How many Lumes should I get?
As a general rule of thumb, two Lumes can handle more tasks, faster and better especially for chores like laundry folding. That said, a single Lume is still highly capable and can handle many tasks on its own, including simpler folding, as well as one-arm activities like pick-and-place tidying.
How big is Lume?
Lume measures 11 × 15 × 45 inches when folded, about the size of a standard floor lamp. You can place it anywhere you’d normally put one, like a bedroom or living room.
Is it safe around people and pets?
Yes. Lume is aware of its surroundings and only operates when its workspace is clear. Its movement is controlled and designed for home environments.
Do I need a subscription?
There’s no subscription for the first batch. As an early adopter, you’ll receive lifetime software updates with new chores included. In future versions, you’ll be able to choose specific chore capabilities and subscribe only to what you want.
