Lume's Private Debut at Jeff Bezos’s MARS
Syncere was invited to give a private demonstration of Lume for Jeff Bezos and his guests at MARS, his invitation-only gathering of leaders in machine learning, automation, robotics, and space. It was an exclusive first look, before Lume had been shown to the public.
Aaron and the Syncere team presented alongside some of the most influential minds in technology and culture. Guests included Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, musician will.i.am, and roboticists Deepak Pathak, Marc Raibert, Daniela Rus, and Rodney Brooks. Aaron spent one-on-one time with each of them, including Bezos, to demonstrate Lume and share his vision for Syncere’s future.
As much of the robotics industry pursues humanoids and machines built to move like people, Syncere is defining a different direction for the home. At MARS, the team presented an elegant vision of the future: a beautiful lamp that becomes a robot when there is a chore to do, then returns to being a lamp when the work is finished.
Syncere calls this vision ambient robotics. The aim is for everyday tasks to be taken care of quietly in the background, without requiring people to manage a machine or give it a place of its own. For the MARS audience, Lume made that idea tangible. It was a first glimpse of a home where technology does more while asking less of the people who live there.
