LUME Wins Fast Company's 2026 Design Award
We're excited to share that LUME has been named the winner of Fast Company's 2026 Innovation by Design Award in the Experimental and Conceptual Design category.
Now in its 15th year, the Innovation by Design Awards recognize some of the most original and meaningful work across design, honoring products and ideas for qualities including originality, beauty, user insight, cultural significance, and impact. This year's honorees span companies and design teams including Google, Adidas, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and others.
The Experimental and Conceptual Design category specifically recognizes concepts, prototypes, and pioneering designs that push the boundaries of what is possible and get people excited about what the future could look like. Fast Company selected LUME as this year's winner, describing it as a laundry-folding and living-room-tidying robot disguised as a lamp worth displaying in your home.
That recognition means a lot to us because the idea behind LUME has always been about approaching home robotics differently. Rather than designing a robot first and figuring out how it fits into someone's home later, we started with an object that already belongs there... a lamp. LUME takes care of everyday chores, then returns to being a beautiful and useful part of the room when the work is done.
LUME was also named an Honorable Mention in Fast Company's Small and Mighty category, which recognizes work from companies with fewer than 100 employees. For our small team in Palo Alto, being recognized both for the idea itself and alongside other small teams doing ambitious design work makes this especially meaningful.
This is our first design award, and an important recognition of what we're trying to build at SYNCERE... technology that becomes more capable without making our homes feel more technological.
